The sleeves stay in place and do not ride up at all thanks to the thumb loops and velcro adjustable wrists. The drawstring bottom also helps keep snow and wind outside. The inside does feel a little scratchy on skin, but I've never thought it is too bad. It's vaguely like wearing a wool sweater, but not even that bad.
