The sleeves stay in place and do not ride up at all thanks to the thumb loops and velcro adjustable wrists. The drawstring bottom also helps keep snow and wind outside. Chest pockets on the inside and outside help hold your stuff. Pit zips also let you regulate temperature as needed. The inside does feel a little scratchy on skin, but I've never thought it is too bad. It's vaguely like wearing a wool sweater, but not even that bad. I mostly wear my jacket over other layers, so it has never been a problem to me.
