Stephen Joseph Rain Gear

Stephen Joseph Rain Gear

The Stephen Joseph Rain Gear is a bargain while still being a great piece for winter riding. The Corsa fabric, which is waterproof/windproof/breathable is great as an outer layer on cold days; it's even brushed on the inside for a little extra warmth. Aiding in the fit and function are Super Roubaix panels on the back, down the sides, and under the arms. Super Roubaix is a brushed nylon-spandex frequently seen in arm warmers, helping both with fit and evaporation. The chest panels, the majority of the arm panels, and the two big back panels are Corsa for warmth (the spearhead down the middle is Super Roubaix).

For sizing, you may find the following a helpful general guide for a quick assessment. Length is the standard measurement for dog apparel. Length is measured from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. The numbers refer to inches. Remember, individual dogs and breeds vary. Contact a rep if you are unsure, New and improved! By using Velcro straps on the side, this raincoat fits easy and covers top and bottom. Reflector lines bring extra safety at night. A convenient leash whole keeps harness or collar hidden and dry. I wish they would give more room in the area around where it zips from neck to nose. This is a problem I see with ALL jackets that zip up to the face...There needs to be MORE room in Front of the Face. They need to put extra fabric for the face and head area. Everyone has a different size head so they need to account for that... I don't understand why they did not add more room in that area especially since the zipper zips up in front of the nose and mouth. The ending of the zipper area is bulging and uncomfortably pushes on the nose or face because they did not account for the room needed for the face. It needs a little more room so it does not rub up the nose or face.

It's cold and damp out. Jump on a bike with a rain jacket and in seconds you're soaked with sweat and freezing cold—don't expect this to happen when wearing the Louis Garneau Enerblock Cycling Jacket. EnerBlock fabric magically shuns the elements, and ditches moisture like climbers ditch sprinters in a mountain stage. Soft on the skin, TherMaxx retains heat while flatlock seams assure there will be no irritation on your ride—but we're not guaranteeing that... once the word gets out in your group about the generous cargo space, expect irritation in the form of others asking you to carry spare gear. The product is as pictured and as described. The material is good and the red color is a normal red and not offensive. It shipped fine and the size for the jacket portion is fine... though when you zip it up it kind of bulges on the bottom front because of all the zipper pockets they have all in the front.Unlike a lot of other Jackets that do not zip up very far, I like how this zips up further and can act like a balaclava unlike the other jackets that claim it and do not even cover past the chin. This one actually covers past the chin and up to the tip of the nose. Unfortunately, there is an issue with the balaclava part.

Material feel: The material is very thin, and feels smooth somewhat like plastic on the outside, and somewhat like cloth (with a very slight furriness) on the inside. It feels comfortable. The long review I read claimed it was "brittle." I completely disagree with that. The material is thin, and you could probably poke your finger through if you wanted to, but it is extremely flexible, not brittle. I definitely would NOT expect it to withstand rubbing against sharp rocks -- the material is more like a plastic bag than like nylon fabric. After a straight week of battle testing it, I came away incredibly impressed. The timing couldn't have been better since, for the first time in my own experience, it rained every day of my June trip and never got above 65 degrees. I literally never took this off.Despite pervasive rain, it never leaked or did anything but shed water the way it was supposed to. The hood design was excellent keeping rain off my face. The lightweight material breathes so well. A mesh lining prevents the clammy feeling that other jackets create.

Just got back from a Kilimanjaro hike where we had rain and/or snow for half of our trip, and the jacket worked great--no seam problems, and repelled water as advertised. My hiking buddy spent ten times the price on his jacket from another company, but didn't get any real benenfit. Good buy.I bought this item for the initial purpose of spending a week in June in the northern wilderness areas of Boundary Waters/Quetico. I've been making an annual trek for over 10 years and have been getting by using inexpensive rain jackets in the $30 range (Stearns, Sierra Designs). They worked OK, but were never great. I like quality gear, though I could never really justify the cost of high end brands such as Gore-Tex. Then I saw this jacket in a local store and, for the price, figured I couldn't go wrong trying it. I knew Amazon's customer service would allow a return if it didn't perform as advertised.
